First Line Friday: Low Red Moon by Ivy Devlin

This weeks First Line Friday comes from an existing author with a new pseudonym! Have you heard about this yet? Ivy Devlin is Elizabeth Scott!

I had the wonderful pleasure of meeting her on Wednesday at BEA.

I’m nearly done with this book and while it’s a short read it’s full of character and emotion. Not to mention the paranormal aspect. Come September you’ll be wanting to read this book!

A tad bit boring, could have been better read. I would have enjoyed more lore, a better relationship with the parent and less of a mystery feel.

I think since I’m an avid reader of adult shifter books that this one just fell short of being awesome compared to those books. 🙁

If you follow me on Goodreads and notice how long it takes me to finish a book it usually corresponds to how much I’m liking it or not. It took me over 7 days to finish this book.

Torn between two destinies?

Claire is having the perfect sixteenth birthday. Her pool party is a big success, and gorgeous Matthew keeps chatting and flirting with her as if she’s the only girl there. But that night, she discovers something that takes away all sense of normalcy: she’s a werewolf.

As Claire is initiated into the pack of female werewolves, she must deal not only with her changing identity, but also with a rogue werewolf who is putting everyone she knows in danger. Claire’s new life threatens her blossoming romance with Matthew, whose father is leading the werewolf hunt. Now burdened with a dark secret and pushing the boundaries of forbidden love, Claire is struggling to feel comfortable in either skin. With her lupine loyalty at odds with her human heart, she will make a choice that will change her forever? –

I can say that Claire de Lune had an original take on werewolves.

The remarkably talented Maggie Stiefvater has debuted her homemade trailer for Linger, book two of her YA wolf tale series The Wolves of Mercy Falls.

Linger will be released July 20, 2010.

  Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater

For years, Grace has watched the wolves in the woods behind her house. One yellow-eyed wolf—her wolf—is a chilling presence she can’t seem to live without. Meanwhile, Sam has lived two lives: In winter, the frozen woods, the protection of the pack, and the silent company of a fearless girl. In summer, a few precious months of being human … until the cold makes him shift back again.
Now, Grace meets a yellow-eyed boy whose familiarity takes her breath away. It’s her wolf. It has to be. But as winter nears, Sam must fight to stay human–or risk losing himself, and Grace, forever.–Goodreads
