Summary (Goodreads)

The first book in a magnificent new series about a girl who can navigate between the worlds of the living and the dead by #1 New York Times bestselling author Alyson Noël.

Lately strange things have been happening to Daire Santos. Animals follow her, crows mock her, and glowing people appear out of nowhere. Worried that Daire is having a nervous breakdown, her mother packs her off to stay in the dusty plains of Enchantment, New Mexico with a grandmother she’s never met.

There she crosses paths with Dace, a gorgeous guy with unearthly blue eyes who she’s encountered before…but only in her dreams. And she’ll get to know her grandmother—a woman who recognizes Daire’s bizarre episodes for what they are. A call to her true destiny as a Soul Seeker, one who can navigate between the worlds of the living and the dead. Her grandmother immediately begins teaching her to harness her powers—but it’s an art that must be mastered quickly. Because Dace’s brother is an evil shape-shifter who’s out to steal her powers. Now Daire must embrace her fate as a Soul Seeker and find out if Dace is one guy she’s meant to be with…or if he’s allied with the enemy she’s destined to destroy.

Free Kindle Book: Jessica’s Guide to Dating on the Dark Side by Beth Fantaskey

I HAD to share this Free Kindle edition with you!

I loved this book! If you have a Kindle or device with the app I highly recommend this book! It’s way too cute and fun and romantic!

Read my review to see what I enjoyed most about this book!

Here’s my “Overall” statement from my reivew:

Overall:
I LOVED this book. I had the hardest time putting it down in any fashion. It made me laugh and I might have teared up a bit at a point, but ultimately it made me smile. It was a true love story with teenaged angst and super natural twists. I didn’t mention the vampire element in any of the above because it’s really not what swayed me to loving the book. Lucius could have been just any normal exchange student and the story would still make sense, minus the impending uproar between the two vampire clans of course. 🙂

Kindle for PC! Free eBooks!

kindle-for-pc-tcg._V226986374_
You’ve probably already read about this but I wanted to make a very important point about the Kindle for PC application.

When you buy a Kindle book it gets saved in your digital library on Amazon.com.
So you don’t like to read eBooks on your PC? I agree. So you don’t have a Kindle or don’t plan to buy on in the new few months? That’s cool.
But what if one day you do buy one? Wouldn’t it be nice to already have a library of books just waiting for you to read on your new shiny device?
I was browsing the Kindle store last night. I bought 13 eBooks. Each and every one of them cost me $0.00, were delivered wirelessly to my Kindle, and will be forever a part of my digital library on Amazon.com, unless they deem them copyright whatcha-whatever and remove it without my permission, but no worries because it was free. 🙂 Granted a majority of these are books that are available free digitally just about everywhere: A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Cinderella, Black Beauty, White Fang, Treasure Island, Pride and Prejudice, and Anna Karenina.
And maybe, just maybe, one day these “kindle” formatted eBooks will be reformatted to be read on other devices.
Either way, it doesn’t hurt to buy free books right? Or maybe you don’t mind reading on your PC? I personally hate it but hey, if the book is free and I don’t have any money for new books I just might have to resort to this option, well not the PC part because I do have a Kindle, but you know what I mean. 🙂
So, if you haven’t already downloaded the Kindle for PC application then do it. And troll the Kindle store for free books often, because there really are some decent reads available.
Here’s a few books I’ve bought recently for $0.00!

The Angel Experiment (Maximum Ride, Book 1) by James Patterson

Fireflies in December (Center Point Christian Fiction (Large Print)) by Jennifer Erin Valent

The Pawn (Patrick Bowers) by Steven James

By Reason of Insanity by Randy Singer

Not Your Mother’s Slow Cooker Recipes for Entertaining by Beth Hensperger

The above links go to their print formats but you can see under the print price the other format options and their prices. I don’t know how long Kindle books are available as free downloads but I follow an awesome blog that lets me know about free Kindle books all the time and that would be: Books on the Knob.
So, go download Kindle for PC and start your new free digital library!

Summary (Amazon.com)

The world is changing: the government has seized control of every aspect of society, and now, kids are disappearing. For 15-year-old Wisty and her older brother Whit, life turns upside down when they are torn from their parents one night and slammed into a secret prison for no reason they can comprehend. The New Order, as it is known, is clearly trying to suppress Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Being a Normal Teenager. But while trapped in this totalitarian nightmare, Wisty and Whit discover they have incredible powers they’d never dreamed of. Can this newly minted witch and wizard master their skills in time to save themselves, their parents–and maybe the world?

I picked up a copy of this at BEA in May. I haven’t read it yet but I really want to. Here’s the cover that the ARC has. I really like this and I’m not sure why they changed it. Maybe it wasn’t dark enough?

Witch and Wizard ARC

And here’s another random cover I saw for it.

I do like the flaming W with the heads popping out the sides one better than that one but I love the blue cover.
