Cover Art: Bloodborn (Other, #2) by Karen Kincy

Karen Kincy revealed her cover for book #2 of her Other series, Bloodborn,on the 2010: A Book Odyssey blog!

Due to a post I saw on Bookalicious I will no longer be posting “new” cover art directly on my blog but will be linking directly to the author’s post so that credit is given where it is due. Read the post by Pam if you haven’t! I’ve since changed my mind about this as I agree with the few authors that have commented. It’s about getting the word out about their book, not hits on their author website. While I respect what Pam’s post was about, in the end it’s about getting others to pass the word along. Word of mouth, er, bloggers posting is a strong selling tool.

I think it’s a pretty cover. I’m not sure if I like that the girl looks so much different than the girl on the cover of Other. Maybe it centers around a new girl? I dunno but I’ll find out. 🙂 Per Karen’s comment she confirmed that it’s not the main character from the first book. So now I’m excited to read it and find out what’s going on! Thanks to Karen for stopping by and commenting.

  1. I don’t see a problem with posting a book cover pic on your blog with a link to the author’s site. I see it as more advertising for book, not trying to steal the author’s glory. I suppose some bloggers post the pic just to get some hits, but it’s still advertising for the book. If I want additional info, I’ll check out the author’s site (with or without a link) or I’ll run on over to Amazon and add the title to my wish list. You are the only book review blog I follow so I don’t see the cover 100 times when it comes out.

    1. Thanks for this Leigh Ann! I agree and disagree with doing both.

I commented on Pam’s post and she commented back to me and not very positively I might add. I am now composing a response to her asinine response back to me.

  2. Popping in to say that I love it when bloggers share my cover. I don’t consider it “cannibalization,” as Pam suggests. I honestly don’t care too much about the number of hits to my author’s website, since my ultimate goal is for readers to recognize my books when looking for a new read in a bookstore or library. So feel free to share BLOODBORN’s cover here, Jess!

Also, the girl on the cover isn’t Gwen. She’s Cynthia Lopez, who you can read more about here: karenkincy.com/books. (And there’s the shameless plug for my official website. XD)

    1. Thanks Karen! I’m rethinking my original agreement with her post too. I agree that the author’s probably want some of that awe to be posted on their post but ultimately I’m sure getting the word out is more important to the author in the end. I’ll be revising this post in a few minutes to include a picture of your book cover! 🙂

  3. My post stemmed from talking to authors via email that they would like to have five minutes to bask in the glory of their covers. After that five minutes it’s fair game 😀
