The Unwritten Rule by Elizabeth Scott
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
I don’t normally read contemporary books so this was out of character for me. I’m a fan of Elizabeth Scott so I figured I’d give it a shot.
My initial review:
A twisted look at first love. Not sure how I feel about Brianna but I loved Sarah and of course Ryan. 😉 Official review to come.
My official review is that this was a basic love triangle that involved a self centered brat, Brianna, who hangs on to her boyfriends, Ryan, because she’s afraid to be alone. And the best friend of the brat, Sarah, that is just too polite to say or do anything that would upset said brat friend.
I didn’t care much for Brianna’s character but I understand why she was portrayed as she was. I loved Sarah’s character and found her completely relatable. I wish Ryan would have been more of a man and spoke up but I guess it was to be expected of a teenager.
If you enjoy contemporary YA love stories you’d probably enjoy this book too.
I must say that I absolutely hate the cover of this book. Couldn’t they have picked better looking feet for the girl? And why showcase their feet? There was hand holding in the book, why not play off of that?
I believe I received this as a review copy from the publisher: Simon Pulse.
