Summary (Wake, Book 1) (this is book 3!)

Not all dreams are sweet.

For seventeen-year-old Janie, getting sucked into other people’s dreams is getting old. Especially the falling dreams, the naked-but-nobody-notices dreams, and the sex-crazed dreams. Janie’s seen enough fantasy booty to last her a lifetime.

She can’t tell anybody about what she does — they’d never believe her, or worse, they’d think she’s a freak. So Janie lives on the fringe, cursed with an ability she doesn’t want and can’t control.

Then she falls into a gruesome nightmare, one that chills her to the bone. For the first time, Janie is more than a witness to someone else’s twisted psyche. She is a participant.… –

First Line

It’s like she can’t breathe anymore, no matter what she does.

What a book. A ton of stuff happens. I can’t say much without giving too much away. Janie meets her biological father. The journey it takes her on is quite amazing. The dreams aren’t as crazy as they were in the first two books but they are more meaningful.

Cabe is forever there to support Janie. Her mother is forever there to make her life hell.

A great ending to a great series.

There’s nothing too new to the setting than the first books. Janie does visit her father’s home and that’s a real eye opener for Janie.

I love how Lisa writes. She almost writes choppy but honestly that’s more Janie than Lisa. I can’t wait to read more by Lisa just to see if it really was the way Janie thought.

As with the first two books, a girl that’s able to enter anyone’s dreams if they are sleeping in her vicinity is pretty damn original. One of the most original books I’ve ever read.

Besides Janie’s father there are no new characters. We do get to see more of Janie’s mom and while it’s frustrating to witness these scenes for Janie it’s really kind of refreshing because we get a clearer picture of what happened to her mom. I still don’t agree that she should have resorted to drinking and basically abandoning her daughter.

Janie and Cabe’s relationship is very passionate. The love they have for each other is tangible. They just work together so well. I would love to see a follow up book just to see how they do in 10 years time.

I think it was a good ending to the series. I loved that we got to see her father and how Janie’s mom crashed and burned into what she is now. I really wish there was an epilogue or a follow up book. For some reason I really want to know how it all works out because there really isn’t a conclusion.

Cover/Title Bonus

The cover is perfect for what happens in the story. The title however, is kind of misleading. I was dreading reading this because I only saw the most horrible ending possible with the title as Gone.

  1. I’ve read Wake and Fade but haven’t picked up Gone yet. I will get to it eventually and I really like this series. I just finished Silver Borne and need to pick up the new JR Ward and Charlaine Harris has a new one coming. Yipee!

    1. Yup, I need to read (buy) Silver Borne too! But I have so many other books to read I think I’m going to save it. Same with the Charlaine Harris one. 🙂 I’m liking this new JR Ward though! I’m only 84 pages in, taking my time, but loving it.

  2. I’ve read Wake and Fade but i haven’t been able to get gone due to family matters and i was wondering if you know web site were i can read it on the computer

    1. I’m not sure what you’re asking. If you’re asking if I know a website that has it for FREE, then no, I don’t. I do not participate in illegal downloads of anything especially books.

I’d suggest that you either find a cheap used copy somewhere or try your local library system.
