Bitten (Women of the Otherworld, Book 1) by Kelley Armstrong

This was a great book! Very similar to Patricia Briggs’s Mercy Thompson series.
Elena is a werewolf. The ONLY female werewolf. She was bitten by Clayton who she fell in love with years ago. She didn’t take to kindly to being bitten and turned.
She rebelled against the change forcing Jeremy, the Pack Alpha, to cage her in his basement.
She lived there for a while, then decided to leave to pursue a life as human as possible. There she meet Phillip. He was a perfect gentleman, patient and caring, and always giving flowers.
Then the Pack called Elena in for help with some “mutts”, rogue werewolves, who were killing humans and leaving them on Pack territory causing the humans to investigate to close to home.
Elena is good with humans, therefore, the Pack knows she can handle mutts because they rely on their human instincts rather than their wolf instincts.
The plot is very crazy. Several Pack members end up dead due to theses rebellious mutts who each have their own agenda. One wants territory, one wants Elena dead, and one wants Elena to make wolf babies with. Elena just wants to be left alone but is willing to do what it takes to protect herself and ultimately protect Clay, whom she is totally 100% in love with but can’t admit it to herself.

I’m so looking forward to the next book, which seems to incorporate witches some how, which should be pretty cool.
