This Body Won’t Break (The O-Negative Series Book 1) by Lea McKee

This was an awesome book!
Loved the premise of the o-negative “orphans”.
Joanna uncovers the real story behind so many orphaned children. With the help of Knox, a familiar looking guard. Joanna befriends many orphans before she and Knox escape…..
Joanna joins a world of rebels set against the government. Lots of spoilers I’m dodging here.
Suffice it to say there are a lot of new characters on the outside world that make this story so awesome.
It is action packed and full of interesting characters and settings.

The Fragile Ordinary by Samantha Young

Such a good book.
Comet was the perfect character to watch blossom from a shy young lady to a positive and outspoken woman.
While I don’t understand how anyone could parent the way her parents parented, I did like how it made for great scenes. Parents that aren’t around much in stories allow for the characters to do things most parents wouldn’t allow to happen, such as boys staying the night!
And then there was Tobias. Poor Tobias. He started out a bad boy hanging around the wrong crowd. Then he befriends Comet. They made the most perfect friends and eventually couple. Tobias’ cousin throws in some drama and makes the middle of the story drama packed.
Comet’s friends are there to help her through some tough parts.
At the end we are shown two amazing teenagers who were put through a lifetime of challenges but succeed in endurance and love.

August and Everything After by Jennifer Salvato Doktorski

Loved this book!
Quinn was an awesome character. She was complex and interesting. Her aunt was also very cool.
I loved the guest characters such as her mom, sister, and friend.
Malcolm was an interesting character as well. He has deep rooted issues that rear up and cause issues for him and Quinn.
The music element made this book though. Seeing Q and Malcolm mesh when music was involved was bliss.
The fact that they both had a similiar past issue was good because it gave them a firm topic to lean onto each other.
Of course all books need that dramatic plot twist and this one had it. I did not like this one though. I felt each character overreacted to the extreme and made it just a tad bit hard to enjoy or relate to.
I loved the ending. I will read more by this author.

Someday, Somewhere by Lindsay Champion

A very intense book.
I loved Dom’s character but did not understand her need to lie about herself to Ben. Her best friend was a hoot and I wish I knew his story.
Ben was incredibly intense. I felt so bad for him and his friends and family.
I was super glad about the ending. Not what one would think would happen but it just worked so well.
I would read more by this author.

Unfortunately I did not finish this book. I did not love the first few pages and quickly got disinterested. The main character was abrasive and made me dislike her from the get go.

If you’ve read this and want to persuade me to give it another go, please leave a brief comment without spoilers as to why I should.

Broken Beautiful HeartsBroken Beautiful Hearts by Kami Garcia
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This was a great book. Very New Adult though as it was a tad graphic in some areas.
There are multiple scenes of alcohol consumption and tons of fighting.
The relationship that Peyton and Owen develop is awesome. I am not usually a fan of the “at first I hate you but now I love you” progression but it really worked for these two. Peyton’s previous relationship lends a helpful hand for the reader to understand her timidness to develop feelings for someone new.
Some of the supporting characters were a little annoying. Like her cousin’s ex-girlfriend. I mean, I understand it was necessary to have that annoying character but MAN! I did not like her.
I also found some of the scenes predictable. That may be the biggest issue I had with this book.
Overall, I loved the story and the progression between Peyton and Owen.
I would love to see more books following maybe Peyton’s bff Tess or even one of her cousins.

The First to KnowThe First to Know by Abigail Johnson
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Very good story about a hard time for a budding athlete competing with the shadow of her older sister, a dad that’s her coach, and a DNA test to bust an entire family apart.

Dana was completely relate able and genuine.
She orders a DNA test for her dad that was in the foster system and didn’t know his biological family.
She hopes to find some cousins but instead she discovers another closer relative.
In the process she falls for an amazing guy who happens to know the new relative closely.
Ultimately, many people are affected and many emotions are exposed.

Great book and loved the writing. Looking forward to more from this author.

Impossible Love
Impossible Love by Kimberly Readnour
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

An enjoyable New Adult book.
As with any book with racy sex scenes some words come off as alarming. However, if felt that most X-rated words always came off as alarming, which made my reading experience somewhat unpleasant. I honestly think the book would have been much better if some of the more Adult words were not used. I say this because the main character, Kayla, came off as more of a teenager than an adult. Sure, she was 21 but she was a VERY inexperienced adult in many fashions. She portrayed herself as a very naive young lady with some immature reactions.
There were a few pop culture references of a recent Adult series-turned-movies that I also felt were unnecessary.

Favorite scene:
The Skype call.

The Form of Things Unknown
The Form of Things Unknown by Robin Bridges
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

A good new girl to new town book.
Centers around Natalie who has just had a heck of a break up, and is making new friends in her new home town after moving to help support her grandmother.

Main characters are well developed but I feel the supporting characters lacked in connection to the story. Such as Starla and Colton.

Overall, a decent read and a surprising ending.
